A nationally recognised environmental and social development organisation dedicated to community-based mangrove restoration, with a strong focus on Pulicat Lake across Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
MFI was founded by Mr. S. Meerasa, a native of Jameelabad near Pulicat Lake, who has been involved in its protection and conservation for nearly three decades. MFI was formally registered in 2018 with a mandate to scale community-led restoration, education, and livelihood programs Pan-India.
MFI is certified under 80G and 12A, and has implemented internationally and nationally supported multi-stakeholder initiatives encompassing ecological restoration, women's empowerment, child education, and climate-resilient livelihoods.
