Mr. S. Meerasa appointed as Member of the District Coastal Zone Management Authority (DCZMA), Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu (2024–2027) — formal recognition of his expertise in coastal ecosystem management and policy.
The District Coastal Zone Management Authority is a statutory body constituted under the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification by MoEFCC, Government of India. It oversees management, regulation, and protection of coastal zones at the district level.
His appointment reflects the Tamil Nadu State Government's confidence in his decades of expertise in mangrove ecosystem management, coastal community development, and wetland conservation at Pulicat Lake.
Mr. Meerasa contributes to decisions on coastal zone regulation, protection of mangrove and wetland areas, sustainable use of coastal resources, and community-based coastal governance in Tiruvallur District.
Mr. Meerasa represented MFI at the India Mangrove Conclave (IMC) 2024 at the National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR), Chennai — a national conference on mangrove ecosystems covering science, policy, and sustainable management.
MFI shared its ground-level CBEMR experience, community engagement models, and carbon credit initiatives — contributing to the national discourse on scalable mangrove restoration frameworks.
MFI actively networks with government bodies, universities, research institutions, NGOs, and corporate partners to strengthen the coalition for mangrove conservation across Tamil Nadu and Pan-India.
MFI's formal role in coastal zone management and active participation in national conservation forums make us a trusted partner for government, research, and corporate collaboration.
